The Ireland 2 Euro Coin 2026 “U2 50th Anniversary” is issued in Proof quality. The issue commemorates 50 years since the formation of Irish rock band U2 in 1976, a group that has become one of the world’s best-known rock bands over the following decades.
It is the first official 2 Euro commemorative coin dedicated to a band that is still active. The coin was designed by Shaughn McGrath and struck by the Royal Dutch Mint. The Proof version features highly polished mirror-like fields contrasted with frosted relief details, giving the design a more distinctive appearance than the standard finish.
